President Obama Nominates Merrick Garland to Supreme Court

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court:

"President Obama has nominated a judge with impressive credentials and a long and distinguished record on the bench. It's hard to imagine someone more qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice. The President has fulfilled his duty under the Constitution and now it's time for the Senate to do their job and not let politics get in the way. Judge Garland deserves a fair hearing and vote so the vacancy on the Supreme Court can be filled as soon as possible."
